Searching For a Place to Land | 路上人
This symbol is a part of the Entry Stamp administered to travellers upon crossing the Chinese border.
I have accumulated many of them in the last 10 years, while traveling between China and Canada. From my passport, the arrows gradually made their way into my work. They became a metaphor through which I understand and process transition, displacement, and the longing for a place to take root.
“Searching For A Place To Land’’ is a site-specific installation series that explores psychological states one experiences during the process of immigration. Throughout the exhibition, I intend to add, subtract and re-arrange this composition in order to better understand materials, narratives and my own experiences pursuing canadian permanent resident status.
